A numerical model has been developed allowing and supporting a comparative analysis with experimental results. Once properly validated, the numerical model should be very useful to predict the trapping rates of different slit-dam solutions for several debris flow conditions, which were not tested in flume run tests.
Methods considered on the development of the numerical model:
- Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH)
- Discrete element methods (DEM)
